ASSE International approved my Maui home to host International Exchange Students. I have two 17-year old students arriving in January, Nico from Germany and Matteo from Italy. It will be exciting times for all of us.

ASSE asked me to put a Bio together so folks would get to know me a little better and understand my passions. I wrote the following:

Phil’s Bio: Phil was raised in the farming and oil communities of Central California.  He attended UC Davis and earned a degree in animal science, later furthering his education in graphic design while working in the animal health industry as a sales rep and marketing manager.  Phil has a passion for helping young people and believes one of the best rewards in life is making a difference by providing guidance and a bigger-picture life experience so they can make the best choices in life.

Phil has mentored over 20 youths by helping them through life challenges in order to create better opportunities for their success.  Not only has he been a Big Brother, but he’s provided a foster home, special needs foster home, adoption home, special needs adoption home, foster care advocate, sponsored a college student form Serbia and has also provide resources for displaced college students.

Phil is semi-retired in Maui, Hawaii.  He loves the Maui lifestyle, follows national and local news and events, and takes special delight in writing about and sharing them with others.  Currently, Phil is an ASSE International Student Host Home as well as an ASSE Area Representative. His Mainland friends visit often to enjoy the Maui experience with Phil and he also extends a warm welcome to international students who pass through Hawaii on their new life journeys.
