The Maui News published my Letter to the Editor in the Tuesday, August 23 edition. I hope many politicians will read it and actually do something about the chaos on our Southern Border.

Text of my letter:
Thousands have been devastated by the tragic loss or near loss of life of a friend, coworker or family member to fentanyl poisoning.  The likelihood is increasing that many of us will be touched by this heartbreak as the chaos at our southern border continues to go unconstrained.  Approximately 300 people succumb to opioid poisoning each day.  The majority cause is fentanyl.  Drug cartels are driving this devastation as many Americans have no idea they are ingesting deadly fentanyl.

The DEA will observe August 21, 2022, as National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.  Awareness is great, but action is required.  The madness and tragedy along our southern border can be placed squarely on our representatives we send to Washington, D.C.  Midterm elections are weeks away.  It’s time we held our elected representatives accountable for this mess.  Secured borders and commonsense immigration will save lives on both sides of the U.S.–Mexican border.  Americans need action. What say you Washington?
